IMAP Germany advises Aluminiumwerk Unna on the acquisition by Chinese Zhongwang Holding

Zhongwang Aluminium Deutschland GmbH acquires Aluminiumwerk Unna AG, leading manufacturer of aluminum alloy tubes, headquartered in Unna in proximity to Dortmund. The investor is a subsidiary of China Zhongwang Holding Ltd., headquartered in Beijing – the listed company is Asia's largest manufacturer and developer of aluminum extrusion products. The acquisition is effected by way of a capital increase at the holding company as well as the acquisition of the shares of the employees

The previous shareholders Wiese Familien GmbH (WFG) and Alu Unna e.V. intend to provide Aluminiumwerk Unna, with its semi-finished aluminum products, with new growth perspectives as part of a globally strong and broadly-positioned group for industrial aluminum.

The company has 220 employees and more than 100 years of history. At the site in Unna, a foundry, an extruder and a drawing mill are located. The company focuses on the production of seamless extruded aluminum tubes as well as tubular profiles and is therefore able to produce high-strength products, especially for the aerospace industry. In 2016, Aluminiumwerk Unna AG generated revenues of about 65 m€.

The group was founded in 1993 with the company headquarters in the Liaoning Province in China. After 20 years of continuous growth, the annual production capacity is now at 900,000 tons. As a result, the company is Asia's largest manufacturer and developer of aluminum extrusion products. More than 10,000 employees work for Zhongwang. Since May 8th, 2009, the company has been listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange.

IMAP advised WFG. The IMAP team consisted of Klaus Basse, Karl Fesenmeyer, Junxiong Wang, Karen Ernst and Lisa Haug.
