Uppåkra Mekaniska, an established and reputable supplier of advanced precision machining with connections to several global OEMS such as Volvo, Scania, Coesia Group and SKF, was searching for a new partner to secure future growth.
Owned by the previous CEO and the founder's three children, the company was looking for advice on finding a potential buyer and negotiating a deal to guarantee long-term success. As a trusted business advisor with a long-term relationship with Uppåkra, IMAP was the natural choice for the company when it decided to embark on a key strategic change.

IMAP had been talking to Uppåkra since 2010 as part of IMAP Sweden's ‘Anticipation Strategy , whereby they would reach out and build up relationships with companies in order to understand the business, ensuring they were well positioned for any potential sales process. Given this long-term relationship and IMAP’s proven expertise in the industrial sector, Uppåkra turned to IMAP in 2014 to lead a sale search and negotiation process.
IMAP relied on its deep bench of experts, whose extensive knowledge of the industrial machining sector across several European markets facilitated the search and negotiation process. As well as the Swedish sector expert, Michael Holmgren, partners Francois Germain and Christoph Kloberdanz in the French and German IMAP offices offered insights and relationships with potential buyers to accelerate the process.
The process generated strong interest from both local and international buyers, representing both strategic and financial investors.
Outcome & Impact
Uppåkra selected Swedish Industrial Group Ekets Industrier as the right match. Given that Ekets is more focused on hydraulic technologies and Uppåkra more on automotive and heavy vehicle applications, the two organizations complemented each other particularly well.
Today, the merged entity is the leading subcontractor for industrial machining and metal processing in the Nordic region, with an expanded global reach and suite of products. Furthermore, IMAP helped realize the former owner's objective of finding an active buyer that was committed to extending Uppåkra's long-standing track record in the industry.
